COOKIES POLICY · REVIEWED OCTOBER 12, 2026

Cookies policy

This page explains the small browser technologies used by Willow at its Indonesian editorial site. Cookies are text values stored by a browser; they are not photographs, health records or a replacement for an account. The site is designed to work with minimal optional tracking. Questions can be sent to Jl. Taman Anggrek No. 25, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta, Jakarta 11470, Indonesia or +62 878 5241 9036. The same explanation applies to similar technologies such as local storage in the browser. The policy is read together with the privacy policy, which describes how any personal information is handled. At the October 12, 2026 review, the cookies listed below are the only ones the site itself sets. The policy applies to every page on the site, including the contact page and printable pages. It covers cookies, local storage and similar identifiers that the site or its hosting platform places in the browser of a visitor using a phone, tablet or computer. The legal basis for essential values is the legitimate interest of keeping the site secure and available, and for the preference value it is the visitor's own choice, in line with Indonesia's Law No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection.

  • cookieChoice: preference category; set by Willow; stores the word accept or reject; treated as current for up to 12 months.
  • Hosting security or session identifier: essential category; set by the hosting platform; name depends on the platform; normally expires when the browser session ends.
  • Analytics cookies: none in use at this review.
  • Advertising cookies: none in use at this review.
  • Third-party cookies: none set by embedded resources on the reading pages at this review.
  1. Essential delivery

Hosting systems may use short-lived technical values to deliver pages, prevent abuse and maintain basic security. These values are tied to a request rather than a personal health profile. They normally expire when the session ends or within a small operational window. Blocking them can affect site delivery. Examples include a value that helps a security filter tell ordinary traffic from automated bursts, and a value that keeps a request routed to the same server for a few minutes. These values do not hold a name, email address or message. Because they are necessary for the site to function and remain secure, they are not switched off by the banner choice. Retention of these values is controlled by the hosting platform and is normally measured in minutes or hours, and not longer than the end of the browser session. Willow does not read these values to identify a reader and does not link them to messages sent through the contact form.

    • (a) Purpose: delivering pages, limiting automated abuse and keeping the connection secure.
    • (b) Effect of blocking: pages may load more slowly or a form submission may fail.
    • (c) Remedy: allowing the values for this site again restores normal behaviour.
  2. Preference choice

Willow stores cookieChoice when a visitor selects Accept or Reject in the banner. It records only the selected word and is used to avoid repeatedly showing the banner. It is a browser preference and has a lifespan controlled by the browser until removed or replaced. It does not identify a person to the editorial team. Willow treats the stored choice as current for up to 12 months and may ask again after a significant change to this policy. The value is read by the page in the visitor's own browser and is not combined with any other record. Choosing Reject leaves the same reading experience in place, with only the essential technical values described above. The name and content of the value are visible in a browser's developer tools or site-data settings, so a visitor can check exactly what is stored. It is stored for the Willow domain only and is not sent to any other site. If the visitor clears it, the only consequence is that the banner appears again at the next visit.

  3. Session cookies

Session values can support navigation or form security while a visit is active. They are generally removed when the browser session closes, subject to ordinary server behaviour. Willow does not use a session value to infer a medical condition. The purpose is technical, not advertising. A session value may, for example, help the contact form confirm that a submission came from a real page visit rather than an automated script. When the browser or tab is closed the value is normally discarded and no longer connects later visits. Willow does not use session values to count returning readers or to follow a path across several visits. Session values are not shared with advertising or analytics providers. Where a form security value is used, it expires within minutes of the page being loaded and cannot be reused after a submission. If a visitor's browser is set to keep session data after closing, the value may last longer, which is a browser setting rather than a Willow choice.

  4. Analytics

At the October 12, 2026 review, Willow does not require an analytics cookie for ordinary reading. If a privacy-respecting measurement service is introduced, the banner and this page will name it, explain the data, state its lifespan and offer a refusal route. Optional analytics will not be used to target health advertisements. Any such service would be configured to avoid storing full IP addresses where the provider allows it, and would be limited to aggregated figures such as which articles are read most often. Analytics would stay switched off until a visitor accepts it, and a typical lifespan for such a cookie would be stated in advance, for example 13 months or less. The change would be entered in the dated record at the end of this page. No visitor profile, advertising audience or cross-site identifier would be built from analytics data. Data would be held on a provider's servers only under a written processing agreement, and any transfer outside Indonesia would be described in the privacy policy. A reader who refuses analytics would see no difference in access to articles.

    • (a) The banner and this page would name the provider and the purpose.
    • (b) The cookie name, category and lifespan would be listed in the table at the top of this page.
    • (c) A refusal route would be available at the same place as the original choice.
  5. Advertising

Willow is designed as editorial media and does not use cookies to make claims about a visitor's health. Any future advertising partner would be assessed for transparency, lawful consent and contextual suitability. The advertising page explains the separation between sponsored material and editorial work. Visitors may reject optional cookies. Willow does not currently load advertising scripts, remarketing tags or cross-site identifiers. If a partner were ever added, it would be described here by name and purpose before it was activated, and the partner would not receive information about the conditions or symptoms a reader may have searched for or read about. Willow does not use data from reading articles to build lists of readers by health topic. Any advertising partner would also have to follow the advertising page, which describes labelling, health-claim standards and prohibited categories. The absence of advertising cookies at this review means there is nothing to switch off, and the banner choice has no effect on advertising.

  6. Browser controls

Most browsers let visitors delete existing cookies, block new ones or ask before storage. Controls differ by browser and device, so consult its help material. Removing the preference cookie may cause the Willow banner to appear again. Blocking all cookies can affect some essential functions. In most desktop and mobile browsers the controls are found under settings, privacy or site data. Many browsers also offer a private or incognito mode, which discards cookies when the window closes, and a signal such as Global Privacy Control that some services respect. Willow will treat a clear browser opt-out signal as a refusal of optional cookies if optional cookies are introduced. Instructions for deleting cookies are published by the makers of each browser, and many browsers allow cookies to be cleared automatically when the window is closed. On a shared computer, clearing site data after a visit stops the next user from seeing the stored choice. Mobile browsers usually place the control under privacy or site settings, and apps that open links in an embedded view may have separate settings.

    • (a) Delete: remove only the cookieChoice value to see the banner again.
    • (b) Block: stop all cookies for this site, accepting that forms may be less reliable.
    • (c) Private mode: discard every value when the window closes.
  7. Third parties

External resources, if used, may set their own values under their own policies. Willow limits such resources and does not control a third party's practices. Check the destination's privacy information before interacting. A provider list can be requested from the editorial desk. Embedded maps, video players and social buttons are the usual sources of third-party values, and the site does not embed them on its reading pages at this review. Following a link from Willow to another website leaves Willow's control, and the other site may set its own cookies from that point. Requests for the provider list are answered within 10 working days. Typeface files, if loaded from an external font service, are requested by the browser from that service, which may receive the visitor's IP address and browser details; such a request does not involve a cookie set by Willow. If a third-party resource were added, this policy would name it, the privacy policy would describe any data it receives, and an optional resource would stay switched off until the visitor accepts it. Visitors who prefer to avoid third-party content can use browser settings to block it, and the reading pages remain usable.

  8. Consent and withdrawal

Accepting optional cookies is not required to read the core publication. A visitor can reject them through the banner or use browser controls later. Withdrawal does not change processing that is strictly necessary for delivery and security. The site records the choice locally rather than asking for an account. To change an earlier decision, clear the cookieChoice value in the browser and make a new selection when the banner appears. Withdrawal takes effect from the next page load and does not require the visitor to give a reason. Information collected before withdrawal, if any, is handled under the retention periods in the privacy policy. Consent for optional cookies is requested separately from acceptance of the terms of use, and silence or continued scrolling is not treated as consent. Because no optional cookie is in use at this review, the banner records a preference for future use and does not enable any tracking. Visitors can ask the desk to explain what has been stored, and the request is answered within 10 working days.

  9. Children and sensitive information

Willow is not designed to collect children's information or sensitive medical details through cookies. Do not put diagnoses, prescriptions or identity documents into a cookie value or a contact message. If accidental submission occurs, contact the editorial desk and ask for deletion. The privacy policy gives retention details. The site is written for adults and does not knowingly profile anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a child has sent information through the contact form can ask for it to be deleted, and the request is acknowledged within 3 working days. Cookie values never contain health details, because the site does not store them in the browser. Willow does not offer accounts, and so it does not store a profile that could be linked to a child. If the site is later changed to include optional features, this policy will be updated before the feature starts. Questions from parents or guardians are handled under the privacy policy, with a response within 10 working days.

  10. Revision record

This policy was reviewed October 12, 2026 for the current preference banner and minimal-cookie approach. Material changes will name new providers, purposes, categories and lifespans. A dated revision note will remain available. Questions can be directed to the Indonesian contact address above. Questions about cookies are normally answered within 10 working days. The policy is reviewed at least once every 12 months and whenever a cookie, provider or purpose is added or removed. Complaints about cookie use are acknowledged within 3 working days, and a written outcome is normally given within 21 calendar days; visitors who remain concerned can contact the competent Indonesian authority for personal data protection. Earlier versions can be requested from the desk.

    • April 6, 2026: first version published with the launch of the Willow editorial site.
    • August 24, 2026: preference banner wording and browser-control guidance clarified.
    • October 12, 2026: cookie list with categories and lifespans added; confirmed that no analytics or advertising cookies are in use.

Additional notes on cookies and storage

What counts as a cookie or similar technology

Cookies are small text files that a website asks a browser to store. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage and pixel requests. Willow uses the word cookie in this policy for all of them, because the reader's choices apply in the same way. A technology that is strictly necessary for the page to load or stay secure does not need consent, while optional measurement or personalisation does.

Willow does not currently use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, social media pixels or cross-site tracking. If any are introduced, this table will list the name, provider, purpose and lifespan before they run, and the banner will ask for a new choice.

How to change a choice

  1. Open the browser settings and find the section for site data, cookies or storage.
  2. Search for the Willow domain and remove the stored cookieChoice entry.
  3. Reload any Willow page. The banner appears again and a new choice can be made.

Readers can also block or delete cookies for all sites through the browser, use private browsing, or turn on the Global Privacy Control signal if their browser supports it. Blocking essential storage may stop the contact form from working.

Third-party requests

Pages load the Merriweather and Lato typefaces from Google Fonts. This request sends the reader's IP address and browser type to Google but does not set an advertising cookie on the Willow domain. Links to outside sites open pages that apply their own cookie rules, which Willow does not control.

Legal basis and related rules

Willow relies on legitimate interest for essential storage, and on the reader's consent for anything optional, consistent with Law No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection and Law No. 11 of 2008 on Electronic Information and Transactions. A reader who rejects optional cookies receives the same content and the same access to every page.
